Jason and Lydia Spears

How did you meet?

Jason’s cousin was my roommate in Herrod Hall. She introduced us when Jason started school at SAU. Jenn was about to do the Disney World internship and asked me to look out for Jason. We were friends forba while and finally started dating.

What activities did the campus offer couples

At that time, there wasn’t much to do but we always found time together. The school bought the skating rink and we would go skating together. Also, we would walk around campus to spend time together. We would attend the plays, concerts, special events when they were offered. Finally, we would visit the BCM and Chi Alpha campus ministies services.

What did the two of you do for fun/dates?

We would eat dinner out. Our first date was on Valentines Day. We ate at Little B’s and went to the Cameo to watch “The Wedding Planner.”. It’s crazy to know that those two places are no longer there.

How many years have you been together?

We started dating in 2001. We got married in 2002. This June will be 14 years of marriage. We have been together for a total of 15 years.

Are there any special memories of you two on campus?

I remember going to our spot behind the library. We would just sit and talk. I love visiting SAU now and showing our children where mommy and daddy met and fell in love!
