Roger Dunlap & Darla Dunlap

How/where did you meet?

We met at a dance at the Jaycee Hut in Magnolia in August, 1982. I was actually introduced to Darla by the guy she was dating at the time!
I was immediately taken in by her blue eyes and I decided I should get to know her better. We started dating just a short time later.

Are there any special memories of you two on campus

We first danced together at an on campus dance in the Bruce Center. We first kissed on the steps of Bussey Hall!
After we were married we lived in Talley Hall, Talbot Hall, the married student apartments and in faculty housing. Both of our children learned to walk at SAU. The campus holds way too many memories to recount here.

What did the two of you do for fun/dates?

I didn't have much money. We spent a LOT of time in one of the swings on campus. I was involved in Phi Lambda Chi, so we attended dances and other fraternity activities regularly. We attended football, basketball and baseball games both at home and on the road. There were the dances, movie nights and other activities on campus as well.

How many years have you been together?

We first started dating more than 37 years ago. In April we will celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary.
