This is more than just about a race; it is about a celebration of community and wellness, where runners, families, and Mulerider supporters from Magnolia and surrounding communities unite for a wonderful cause.
Even more meaningful – proceeds from this event directly impact the Overcoming Adversity Scholarship to honor student-athletes with disabilities at SAU – one step, one story, one student at a time.
The Overcoming Adversity Scholarship was inspired by Carley Rains’ (’21, ’23) powerful journey as a student-athlete at SAU, where she competed in cross country and track while living with Narcolepsy with Cataplexy – a rare neurological condition that profoundly shaped her college experience. Determined to turn this challenge into a legacy, Carley partnered with her husband, Briston Rains (’23), a fellow teammate, to establish the Overcoming Adversity Scholarship in 2022, honoring student-athletes who keep showing up, even when the odds are stacked against them.
Every sponsorship, every registration, every step taken helps fund opportunities for Mulerider student-athletes who are pushing through more than most people know. This year, we aim to raise $10,000 to uplift Mulerider athletes whose determination defies their diagnosis, and we would be honored to have you by our side.
